Great Salt Lake Hopeline is a community art project that invites callers to share their stories of hope with the lake and engage through listening to sounds of her shoreline. Calls can be made through a dial-in hotline (979-GSL-HOPE) or from upcycled “Great Salt Lake Hopeline” phone booths that will be installed in areas around Salt Lake City. Callers’ voicemails will be used in future productions of Great Salt Lake Hopeline by means of podcast and short film.
Through the sharing and distributing of these collected voicemails, the project aims to amplify community voices, inspire hope, and spark dialogue about the conservation of our beautiful Great Salt Lake.
Great Salt Lake Hopeline is created by Han Calder, Nicholas Carpenter, and Benjamin Doxey.
After calling the Great Salt Lake Hopeline, we encourage you to take our online survey and share your experience! Survey responses will help our team tell the story of the full impact of the Wake the Great Salt Lake project.
